It’s not everyday you can witness an erupting volcano in person from several feet away and live to talk about it. Okay, we all know it’s not the real thing, but it’s still pretty cool (or in this case, pretty hot). The Mirage has created this amazing man-made volcano that booms and erupts with fireballs every night on the Strip. Flames and smoke shoot from the top of this 54 foot volcano while molten lava flows down its sides. The eruption seems so real that it gets your heart racing and blood pumping. The excitement is heightened when the heat from the flames can be felt on your face. All this exhilaration can be experienced from the Las Vegas Strip sidewalk.

Opening in 1989, Mirage’s Volcano was the original free attraction along the Strip. In 2008 the Volcano was completely reconceived and redesigned, taking advantage of all the latest state-of-the-art technologies. Design firm WET, who also designed Fountains of Bellagio, completely transformed the Volcano to the awesome display that it is today. The legendary Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart and Indian tabla sensation Zakir Hussain lend their musical talents to the impressive primal soundtrack. This is a must-see attraction that needs to be experienced before heading home. Adults and children alike will ooh and aww in amazement.
