Goodbye Bally's Hello Horseshoe

Changes are coming

Farewell to Bally’s Las Vegas

It’s a sad goodbye to our old friend, Bally’s Las Vegas. This iconic Las Vegas resort has been a resident of The Strip since 1986. However, Bally’s wasn’t the original name. The resort was originally MGM Grand from 1973 until it was rebranded to Bally’s. History is about to repeat itself. In 2022, Bally’s will be rebranded to Horseshoe.

Although Horseshoe may be new to some, it has a long Las Vegas history. Once located on Fremont St., Binion’s Horseshoe was a resident of Downtown Las Vegas from 1951 to 2004. Former owner, Benny Binion, was also the founder of The World Series of Poker (WSOP). The Horseshoe was the location of the first-ever WSOP tournament. WSOP called the Horseshoe home from 1970 to 2004 until it moved on to Harrah’s Entertainment and Caesars Entertainment. For the last 17 years, Rio Las Vegas has been the location of this tournament. The World Series of Poker is moving back home and returning to its roots at new Horseshoe in 2022.

Renovations are scheduled to begin in Spring 2022 with completion expected in late 2022. Renovations include resort exterior, casino floor, and public areas. Along with renovations, new entertainment, food, and beverage options are planned. Word has it that Blake Shelton’s Ole Red will be one of the first to open in front of Horseshoe.

MGM Resorts International has announced that Mandalay Bay, The Mirage, and Park MGM will no longer have mid-week stays during the holidays. Mandalay Bay and The Mirage’s newly shortened stays will be in effect on November 30, 2020. Park MGM mid-week stays are effective immediately. MGM Resorts International hopes to re-open these locations in January, however, they will re-evaluate the situation at that time. To clarify, these three resorts will no longer accept Monday through Thursday stays. Please note that the casinos, restaurants, and other amenities are not included in mid-week closures, as they will continue to remain open for the entire week.

MGM Resorts - Returning Entertainment

The curtain rises again

Returning To The Stage on November 6, 2020

Now that the MGM Resorts have been open for a while, the time has come to get the entertainment up and running. As with all openings after the pandemic shutdown, things are reopening gradually. On Friday, November 6, 2020, MGM Resorts will have a select few shows returning to the stage. MGM Grand will welcome back David Copperfield, Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club, and Jabbawockeez. The classic shows are returning to Luxor with Carrot Top and Fantasy. Aussie talent will be performing at Excalibur with The Australian Bee Gees, and Thunder From Down Under. Since there will be limited-seating in efforts to keep everyone healthy, we highly recommend purchasing tickets sooner rather than later. Enjoy the show.

Caesars Palace Las Vegas - Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill and Amalfi restaurants

More good food by chef Bobby Flay to come

Bobby Flay Restaurant News

This is a bad news/good news situation. First, the bad news. After a wonderful 16 year run in Caesars Palace Las Vegas, Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill will be dishing up its final Mexican dish on November 14, 2020. If you had the opportunity to eat there, you know that it’s a gem that will be sorely missed. If you are planning to visit Las Vegas in the next couple of weeks, you still have the chance to check it out before it closes. Tip: Make reservations as it will no doubt be popular in its final days. However, there is good news. Bobby Flay isn’t going anywhere. As soon as Mesa Grill closes, this busy chef will be immediately working on its replacement. Inspired by his extensive travels to Italy and the Amalfi Coast, chef Flay will be opening his first Italian restaurant, Amalfi by Bobby Flay. With an anticipated opening in late Spring 2021, diners can expect a large menu of rich pasta dishes, to whole fresh fish, with a few traditional desserts with a twist. We can’t wait for Bobby’s next culinary chapter.

The Cromwell Reopening

The Cromwell Las Vegas - Reopening Announcement

Trick or Treat? Definitely a Treat

Reopening Just in Time for Halloween

The Cromwell Las Vegas will be reopening its doors on Thursday, October 29th at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. As with all resorts, the offerings will be limited. The casino, fitness center, GIADA restaurant, Eatwell fast-casual dining, Bound Cocktail Lounge, Interlude Casino Lounge, and Drai’s Lounge will be open for enjoyment. However, The Cromwell is not the same resort as it once was. They are reopening as The Strip’s first adult-only resort. That means the entire resort, including accommodations, will be for guests ages 21 years and older. Currently, the only place where non-adults are permitted will be dining at GIADA restaurant by chef Giada De Laurentiis. Since we are well into Autumn and approaching the end of the pool season, word of its reopening has not been mentioned. We all may have to wait until pool season 2021.

Health and safety protocols are in place such as employees wearing masks, seating at a safe 6ft distance, and plenty of hand sanitizing stations distributed among public areas. Please note that the State of Nevada REQUIRES facial masks/coverings to be worn in all public areas. This includes both employees and guests.

Park MGM Reopening

Caesars Palace Las Vegas - Work from Vegas

Park MGM has great news

A Date Has Been Announced

Park MGM has made a couple of huge announcements this week. We are excited to say that on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, Park MGM is scheduled to reopen its doors for business. Although not all amenities will be available, guests can enjoy the casino, pool, Eataly, Bavette’s Steakhouse, and Primrose. Park MGM will implement a strict Seven-Point Safety Plan that includes temperature screenings, mandatory masks, physical distancing, sanitation stations, and more.

Reopening isn’t the only good news. Park MGM has stated that it will be the first Las Vegas Strip resort and casino to be fully smoke-free. Those who are sensitive to (or just plain dislike) cigarette, cigar, and pipe smoke will now have a resort and casino where they can breathe easily. We applaud Park MGM for making this brave decision for the health and well-being of its guests and employees.

Due to the Covid-19 crisis, the State of Nevada requires guests and employees to wear facial masks/coverings while in public areas. This includes the pool area, casino, and lobby.
